Meet the Company. Soapbox is an interdisciplinary theatre company that devises experimental, collaborative, and female-centred new work with access at the forefront. An international cohort of artists that hail from a range of creative backgrounds, we pride ourselves on creating and telling stories that ask big questions and explode traditional narratives of history and identity. Our creative practice centres empathy and cultivates community. Our work is very feminist, queer and movement based, and tackles serious topics with humour and a touch of absurdism. Our first show as a company, Strange Contagions, was a work in progress at Camden People’s Theatre’s SPRINT festival this year, and returned for a three-day run in December 2023 (QX Magazine’s Best LGBT Gay Theatre In London) with an online zine for artwork inspired by the show’s content. We have been shortlisted for the Untapped Award 2024.
